Cat clothes are a practical aid for maintaining body temperature in hairless breeds (such as Sphynx) or elderly and sick cats. A cat's natural fur is usually sufficient to maintain thermal balance, so the use of clothing should mostly be limited to medical necessities or special situations requiring thermal insulation on cold winter days.
Choosing cotton and breathable fabrics during the selection phase prevents skin irritation. It is essential that the garment does not restrict the cat's mobility, prevent it from using the litter box, or pinch at the ears and legs. For adult cats not accustomed to wearing clothes, it is a useful approach not to force the process, to start with short trials, and to use positive reinforcement.
