Felix Cat Wet Food: Series and Flavor Difference Table
Is the series name or the flavor the determining factor in Felix pouches? With the dry matter protein and calorie table of 12 products, the differences between Le Ghiottonerie, Sensations, and Junior.
A series name is written on the front of a Felix pouch, and a few numbers on the back. Series names (Le Ghiottonerie, Sensations Jellies, Doubly Delicious, Junior) all promise a chunkier texture in jelly; so when looking at the numbers, do the series really differ from one another? We converted the packaging analysis of 12 Felix cat pouches in our catalog to a dry matter basis. The results show that the flavor and the kitten-adult distinction are much more decisive than the series name.
How should you read the series?
In packaging language, each series is briefly described as follows:
- Le Ghiottonerie: chunks of meat in jelly; the named ingredient in each of the salmon, chicken, beef, and tuna recipes is at a 4% ratio.
- Sensations Jellies: flavored jelly; the chicken recipe contains carrot concentrate, the beef recipe contains tomato concentrate. The salmon and shrimp recipe contains at least 4% salmon and 4% shrimp.
- Doubly Delicious: a series offering two sources together. The beef recipe contains 7% beef and 2% poultry, while the other recipe contains salmon and sardines.
- Junior: for kittens, small-chunk recipes (at least 4% chicken or beef).
- Multi Pouch: a set consisting of 4 pouches of 85 g each; has beef-chicken and salmon-tuna options, with a Junior version also available for kittens.
- Soup Time: 48 g soup (Chicken and Beef). The packaging is labeled as "complementary"; meaning it does not replace the main meal. It is recommended to be consumed within 24 hours in the refrigerator after opening. Since there are no analysis values in our records, it was not included in the calculations below.
Table: 12 pouches, dry matter and calories
All pouches are 85 g. Energy has been estimated using the modified Atwater method (protein and carbohydrate 3.5, fat 8.5 kcal/g); we tested the method against the manufacturer's own energy statement: in our N&D cat canned food article, we showed that estimates remain approximately 5–10% below the declared values, therefore read the table as "slightly low." We assumed an ash value of 2.5 for products where it is not written on the label and marked the kcal value with *. For detailed methodology, you can check the Royal Canin analysis.

Finding 1: Flavor is more decisive than the series name
Dry matter protein ranges between 62% and 70%, with three products tied at the peak: Sensations Salmon and Shrimp, Doubly Delicious Salmon and Sardine, and Junior Chicken (all three at 70.0%). In the same Sensations series, the protein ratio of the salmon and shrimp recipe is 14%, while the chicken and carrot recipe is 11.5%; 70% vs 64% on a dry matter basis. In Le Ghiottonerie, the salmon recipe contains 11.5% protein, while the chicken recipe contains 13%. In other words, series-based generalizations like "Sensations is richer" or "Le Ghiottonerie is lighter" do not fit the table; seafood recipes stand out. When choosing a flavor, it is necessary to look at the product's own numbers.
Finding 2: Fat is almost constant, the energy difference comes from protein and water
Crude fat is 2.5% in 8 out of the 12 products. Since fat is the most concentrated source of calories, this keeps the kcal difference between products narrow: adult pouches are roughly in the 65–75 kcal/100 g range. Per pouch, this means approximately 55–63 kcal. In terms of weight management, adult Felix pouches are close to each other; the real difference lies in the number of pouches.
Finding 3: Kitten pouches are significantly denser than adult ones
In the Multi Pouch Junior set, moisture is 75%, protein is 15.4%, fat is 3.6%; energy is approximately 93 kcal/100 g. In the adult beef-chicken version of the same set, moisture is 82% and energy is approximately 67 kcal/100 g. That means the kitten set carries about 40% more energy at the same weight; the difference mostly stems from lower water content and higher protein-fat. In the single Junior Chicken pouch, moisture is 80% and energy is approximately 73 kcal/100 g; meaning kitten products also differ among themselves. In short, considering a kitten product equal to an adult one "per pouch" can be misleading; the cat's weight and age should be calculated according to the packaging table.
How much of the named meat is there?
In most of the pouches, the ingredient mentioned in the product name is at a 4% ratio. When a product name highlights a specific ingredient, this ratio must be stated on the packaging; 4% indicates that the rest of the recipe is defined by more general categories such as "meat and animal derivatives", "vegetable protein extracts". The exception is the Doubly Delicious Beef and Poultry recipe: here 7% beef and 2% poultry are specified. When comparing products, looking for this ratio on the packaging is the most practical way to measure what the name promises.
How many pouches a day?
The guide on the label recommends 3-4 pouches per day for an adult cat up to 4 kg, for instance for Beef and Poultry. With the estimate in the table, this amounts to 168–224 kcal. Since the daily energy of a 4 kg sterilised adult cat is roughly 238 kcal via rough formula, the guide meets about 71–94% of the daily requirement for this cat. This difference comes both from formulas being averages and our estimate coming out slightly low; in practice, weighing your cat weekly and adjusting by monitoring weight is a more reliable measure than the number of pouches.
When does Multi Pouch make sense?
There are two different recipes in the 4-pack set; this is practical for trying out with cats that do not accept the same flavor or get bored easily. The total energy of a set is around 228 kcal (4 × 57); meaning one set corresponds to about 96% of the daily energy of a 4 kg sterilised cat. Do not think of the set as a "gift" or "extra".
Frequently Asked Questions
Is a Felix pouch sufficient on its own?
Most adult and Junior recipes are labeled as "complete food"; Soup Time is complementary. The expression "complete" or "complementary" on the product label determines whether it can be given on its own.
What is the difference between Le Ghiottonerie and Sensations?
Both offer a chunky texture in jelly. In Sensations, the jelly is flavored (with carrot, tomato concentrate), whereas in Le Ghiottonerie, meat chunks stand out. Nutritional values change based on flavor rather than the series.
Can adult Felix be given to a kitten?
It is not recommended. Recipes with "kitten" or "Junior" written on their labels should be chosen for kittens; the energy and protein levels of kitten pouches differ from adult ones.
How long can an opened pouch be stored?
Pouches are single-use; it is recommended to give them on the day they are opened and not to keep them. For Soup Time, the manufacturer recommends consuming it within 24 hours in the refrigerator after opening.
Are the calorie values exact?
No, they are estimates made from packaging analysis. Since assumptions were made for products where the ash value is not written, they are marked with *. Check the packaging for exact values.
Data source and limitations
Punkt values are taken from the product records in our catalog; 12 products with complete moisture, protein, and fat information have entered the table (Le Ghiottonerie Lamb, Le Ghiottonerie Tuna, and Junior Beef with missing analysis were left out). If the manufacturer changes its recipe, the values may also change. The article is for general informational purposes; for cats with health issues, a veterinarian's opinion is required for a nutrition plan.
